Friends and me

On assignment and otherwise, with friends and without, over the years

Nov. 1995: Chopta forest, Uttarakhand
Sept. 1996: Dinesh Krishnan and I pose with our fully loaded ‘Royal Enfield Bullet 350cc’ at Rohtang Pass, on our motorcycle expedition to Ladakh and other regions of the Himalayas. The bike’s payload capacity was supposed to be 250 kg, and we somehow managed to load it with 350 kg (including our weight) and yet take it across the non existent roads on this highway to Leh then.
Sept. 1996: Dinesh Krishnan and I pose at the Khardungla pass, the world’s highest motorable road then, during our motorcycle expedition across Ladakh and other regions of the Himalayas. What I now call a ‘circus’, the adventure back then was real and the sense of achievement heart warming..
Sept. 1997: Pradeep Bhatia and me at load up our ‘Royal Enfield Bullet 350cc’ for the 30-day motorcycle journey to Ladakh.
Sept. 1997: Pradeep Bhatia lakes a local shepherd for a ride on a ‘Royal Enfield Bullet 350cc’.
Sept. 1997: Pradeep Bhatia and me at Khardungla top, posing proudly with our ‘Royal Enfield Bullet 350cc’.
Sept. 1997: Pradeep Bhatia after we camped overnight at “Whisky Nallah” in Ladakh, on our return. The Bullet 350cc seat’s message was written by Pradeep, to capture our condition in the cold of the previous night.

April 2005: ‘NOLS’ (National Outdoor Leadership School, USA) Mountaineering Course with Joeseph and Adam Kenworthy, in Pindari Glacier area, Uttarakhand.
Sept. 2021: Ladakh bike journey, to commemorate 25 years since the first one done in 1996. The bikes were the brilliantly suited ‘Hero XPulse 200cc’, that Arun Sharma and I rode.
