My first set of images that were published in 1990 as a photo-essay in New Delhi based ‘Saptahik Hindustan’, which capture lives affected by a fire that ravaged a slum cluster in Shadipur area of New Delhi. I saw the fire it while returning home in a ‘DTC’ bus and my father, on his scooter, dropped me back there the following morning at 6 a.m. to capture the affected families piecing back what remained of their meagre dwellings.
